Nine months prior to your expected vehicle return date.
We help you kick off your lease return preparations by mailing an information package. Inside, you’ll find valuable information regarding the lease return process, exciting offers and a first class condition card.
Three months prior to your expected vehicle return date.
You will be contacted to set up a no-charge third-party vehicle pre-inspection. We encourage you to have your vehicle pre-inspection completed between 45 and 90 days prior to your expected return date to ensure enough time for maintenance or repairs if needed. Flexible and convenient, it can take place at your home, workplace, or even your local Mercedes-Benz dealership, at a time that works for you. This inspection will help you avoid any surprises when you’re ready to return your vehicle.
We recommend repairs be performed at an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer or body shop to ensure the best quality and avoid any unexpected charges if repairs do not meet our standards.
Remember – you won’t be able to make any repairs once you return the vehicle to the dealership.
If you have any questions regarding your vehicle pre-inspection, we’re here to help. Just contact your Mercedes-Benz dealer to review your pre-inspection report. They’ll help you understand your options for repairs, replacement items and the costs for any excess wear and tear. This is also a good time to schedule the return of your vehicle with your Mercedes-Benz dealer.
At lease maturity.
We encourage you to contact your Mercedes-Benz dealership before your lease matures and set up an appointment to return your vehicle by lease maturity. Scheduling an appointment in advance will help ensure the best possible lease return experience.
Upon vehicle return, you will be provided with a vehicle return receipt. In most cases, you will also be provided with a vehicle condition summary and a lease end statement. However, if a third-party pre-inspection was not performed on your vehicle prior to return or if the condition of your vehicle has changed since the vehicle pre-inspection was conducted, a vehicle condition summary and a lease end statement may not be available and a final third-party inspection may be needed to determine your final kilometrage and any excess wear and tear.
After returning your vehicle.
In the event you have not received the lease end statement at the time of return, you’ll receive a lease end statement in the mail. This statement will detail any charges or fees for damages, kilometre overages or excess wear and tear, as well as any other outstanding payments, late charges, deferral fees or other charges and any credits you may be owed. Remember that completing your pre-inspection will help identify any chargeable issues early, so you can take any necessary steps to avoid them, if possible.

Wear and tear is a normal part of driving. We make it easy to understand what’s acceptable and what’s not – so there are no surprises when your lease is over.
It’s important for you to keep in mind that you’re responsible for any wear and tear that exceeds the basics. We created the Vehicle Condition Guidelines to help you figure out the condition of your vehicle, including the interior, exterior and mechanics, so you know exactly where you stand.
Beyond just wear and tear, you must also return the vehicle in safe working order. Items that might compromise the safe operation of the vehicle include broken or cracked windshields, misaligned or unbalanced tires, inoperable headlights, taillights, or brake lights, etc.
The terms of your lease provide a maximum number of kilometres you’re allowed to drive during the time you have your Mercedes-Benz. Keep in mind that should you exceed the allowed kilometres, there will be a charge when you return your vehicle. To learn more about these charges, please refer to your lease agreement.
We’ve made it simple for you to evaluate your Mercedes-Benz with specific, easy-to-understand guidelines. Keep these in mind throughout the duration of your lease so you know your responsibilities and can make sure you’re free of excess wear and tear.
If you ever have any questions about vehicle condition guidelines, the vehicle return process or even specific wear and tear issues, please give us a call – we’re here to help you throughout your lease.
Prior to returning your vehicle, a third-party vehicle pre-inspection is required. You may also conduct your own review with the help of our first class condition card prior to the vehicle pre-inspection.
You’re welcome to conduct your own review prior to the vehicle pre-inspection to familiarize yourself with the process and guidelines. The first class condition card, sent to you in an information package, helps you to identify what is considered excess wear and tear.
Place the first class condition card over an exterior or interior blemish. Generally, if the damage (caused by a single event) cannot be seen with the card over it then a repair or replacement at your expense may not be required. Please note, this may not apply to some interior blemishes and glass damages such as burn holes in the fabric and windshield chips or cracks.
The approximate dimensions of the card are 8.5 cm/3.375 inches (width) x 5.5 cm/2.125 inches (height).
As part of your assessment, check the number of kilometres you’ve driven during your lease period to verify whether you’ve gone over your predetermined limit.
Please keep in mind that this self-assessment tool is for estimation purposes only and is not a replacement of the vehicle pre-inspection or of the determination in the lease end statement.
Make it yours by paying or financing the purchase price (subject to credit and other approval). Just contact your Mercedes-Benz dealer or Mercedes-Benz financial services at 1-866-202-6969.
In the event you decide to pay off your vehicle, a vehicle pre-inspection is not required, but it is still available if you’d like to review your vehicle’s condition.
