Three innovative functions of the Mercedes-Benz MBUX system
June 03 2020,
When Mercedes-Benz launched its A-Class last year, it also introduced the latest generation of its multimedia approach, the MBUX system. The MBUX system, summarized as the Mercedes-Benz User Experience, takes the human-machine experience to a level never before seen in automotive history.
To give you an overview, here are three innovative functions of the MBUX system, elements that will set the standard in the field.
1 - A personal assistant
Most multimedia systems on the market today offer some form of voice recognition. The MBUX approach is no exception, but it doesn't just offer the usual voice commands to adjust the temperature or volume of the radio. It goes a step further by acting as a personal assistant, just like the systems offered by Amazon and Google. Yes, your MBUX assistant can answer the question "what is the capital of Pennsylvania? "on your next road trip.
2 - Four ways to get there
On the road, it's important to keep your eyes forward. In certain driving situations, it is always imperative to have both hands on the wheel. For many manufacturers, these two realities make it impossible to access the car's multimedia system without taking risks (taking your eyes off the road or letting go of the steering wheel). Not at Mercedes-Benz. In fact, you can access the MBUX system by voice, using a touchpad, directly on the screen, or with two small buttons on either side of the steering wheel. Access is therefore safe for the user at all times.
3 - Navigation with augmented reality
The MBUX system offers navigation with augmented reality as an option. This uses a front camera that works in conjunction with the GPS system. At low speeds, when a destination is set in the system, the camera image is displayed on the screen and the names of the streets and directions to be taken are shown directly on the image and video stream. When you find yourself in an unfamiliar environment or when it is dark and it is impossible to see street names and addresses everywhere, the system is a great help, not to mention making any manoeuvre safer.
