Mercedes-Benz Introduces a Flag-Ship Convertible After 44 Years
November 01 2015, Silver Star Montreal
The last time a flag-ship convertible sporting Mercedes-Benz’s three-pointed star was built 44 years ago when the 1971 280 SE cabriolet was introduced into the market. The SE cabriolet received its 230 horsepower from the 3.5-liter V-8 engine under the hood. Next year will mark a new year for Mercedes-Benz convertibles, with the 2017 S-Class Cabriolet. Under this hood will be a biturbo 4.7-liter V-8 engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission to generate an output of 449 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. The AMG version is going to have an increased power of 577 ponies and 664 pound-feet of torque being delivered from a biturbo 5.5-liter V-8 engine linked to a seven-speed sport automatic transmission. The S63 4MATIC Cabriolet is going to have the ability to reach 60 mph from a standstill in 3.9 seconds. The automatic soft top can be purchased in four various colors and it will be able to open and close in under 20 seconds when the vehicle is traveling below 37 mph. Silver Star Mercedes-Benz Montreal cannot wait for these powerful convertibles to hit our dealership.
