2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class: refinement continues
February 25 2021,
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class receives an important update for 2022. What is clear is that refinement continues with this vehicle that has become a benchmark over the years.
Let's take a look at what to remember.
Evolutionary styling
As far as design is concerned, one is allowed an evolution of its lines; one does not undo a winning recipe. For example, the headlights and taillights have been redesigned, offering new stylistic signatures. The front grille has also been enlarged, a physical feature that other models of the brand have taken advantage of in their most recent redesigns.
On the hood, two ridges appear and are prominently displayed. They add character to the car. Similarly, the roof line slopes less quickly toward the trunk, which gives the model a more imposing presence, especially when viewed from the side. In fact, the new C-Class is 2.5 inches longer, about 0.5 inches wider and the wheelbase is one inch longer.
A 4-cylinder engine
When it arrives later this year, the new C-Class will be offered with a single engine, a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. It will still offer 255 horsepower, but will see its torque increase by 22 lb-ft to 295 lb-ft. The EQ Boost system has also been added. This system consists of a 48-volt starter/generator, which helps with start-ups, among other things. It adds 20 horsepower when activated.
Performance will be there, as will comfort, which is promised to be improved thanks to an entirely new, yet evolutionary suspension design. To ensure the link between the engine and the wheels, you can always count on Mercedes’ nine-speed automatic transmission, a benchmark for performance and flexibility. Of course, the 4MATIC system will also be part of the new C-Class.
Inside
Climbing aboard, you will discover a very rich environment, of course, but also something clearly inspired by the great S-Class, the company's flagship sedan. You will still find the two-screen configuration, but this time the units are separate. The first one is in front of the driver and is 12.3 inches long. The second, which is new, is 11.9 inches and rests on the center console. It's tilted slightly toward the driver for easier access. These screens will show everything from the gauges to navigation information and the car's controls. The latest version of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) multimedia system will make life easier for everyone, and the equipment list will of course be thorough. The cabin will even feature a fingerprint reader that will allow access to the vehicle's personal information.
Really, with this new C-Class, the class is pushed to another level. Be on the lookout, because we'll have more information about this model soon.
