2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC vs. 2020 Lexus NX
May 25 2020,
The all-new Mercedes-Benz GLC is a luxury compact SUV that revolutionizes the segment with exceptional power, performance and capability. The GLC offers a number of optional extras, including the 350e Plug-in Hybrid, which will enable the model to outperform the competition with a combined 315 hp. Nevertheless, it is important to compare the entire GLC range with other luxury SUVs. Here, we compare it to the 2020 Lexus NX.
The exterior of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC is performance-oriented
The GLC begins its driving experience with a sophisticated exterior design that helps each model manage the abundant power under the hood. The GLC has 20 mm less ground clearance than the NX, and the GLC's height is up to 61 mm lower and offers an adjusted centre of gravity that promotes agility and cornering control.
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC has numerous engine options
The Mercedes-Benz GLC series offers several engine options. The GLC 300 features a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 255 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. Adding AMG features, the Mercedes AMG GLC 43 gets a 385 hp twin-turbo engine and the AMG 63 S is powered by a 510 hp 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged eight-cylinder engine.
The new GLC 350e 4Matic Hybrid features an electric motor coupled to the 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. This combo produces 315 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. All GLC engines are mated to a 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission with smooth shifting.
The NX 300 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that delivers 235 hp, a significant reduction from the GLC 300. The NX 300H features a 2.5-litre four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine with an electric motor that produces only 194 hp. If you want superior performance, these engines do not exceed the power standards set by the GLC.
The GLC has several advantages in terms of interior volume over the NX. With 1,044 mm of front headroom, passengers benefit from 74 mm more than the NX.
In addition, the GLC is armed with the MBUX system which includes voice recognition, a technology that the Lexus NX does not have. The simple "Hey Mercedes" command allows you to activate various systems, find a restaurant, etc.
